Role of chaplain

An Auction Mart Chaplain :
• Provides an effective Christian presence at the relevant auction marts
• Builds effective relationships based on trust, confidentiality and sensitivity with those who use and work at the auctions
• Develops a broad understanding of the key issues that impact the lives of the farming community
• Demonstrates empathy and good humour
• Develops knowledge and experience in identifying sources of help and support

• Has the full cooperation and support of the directors of the auction mart and be there at the their invitation
• Provides in due course a Christian presence at all auction marts
• Is ecumenical
• Comprises ordained (current clergy as part of their role or retired clergy) or lay personnel or be a combination of both
