Swalesdale is offering a local ‘drop in’ service working in collaboration with a local branch of Age UK.
For many years a drop in was run offering refreshments, friendship and listening to those who visited the market, which ran for many years from the Methodist Church in Reeth until the church itself was forced to close. The community has never been able to replace this much-missed service, so after listening to local opinion, the team at Swaledale decided to re-launch it by working in collaboration with a local branch of Age UK.
They approached a Congregational Church in Reeth to see if they could run the drop-in from their hall. Age UK were able to link up with local experts who will visit as guests and provide resources and information on a variety of helpful topics such as benefits advice, Citizens Advice Bureau, help with finances etc.
Visitors to the drop-in will be able to request future topics to be covered and the team are promoting the event using their networks to ensure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to access the reinstated drop-in service and benefit from the advice it will offer.
